We are very aware of most peoples feelings about using services provided on the Internet, more so in the UK than other countries, such as the USA, where the Internet has been around much longer, and where it is therefore more established in everyone's daily lives.

Many unscrupulous companies will offer you a service which appears to be "FREE". Of course most people will be aware that getting something for nothing in life is very unlikely! - In commerce generally, but especially on the Internet, if you are asked to fill in a form with your personal details you can be almost certain that the company will use that information for more than just your benefit. They can sell this information for such large sums of money that they don't need to charge you for their services! Of course the result of this is that you will then be inundated with advertising communications, either by post or e-mail. We consider this to be an invasion of privacy.

It is our policy that any information entered on to our site is PURELY for our own use and even then ONLY so that we can contact you and that buyers can contact you. We DO NOT and NEVER WILL sell information to any other company or third party. Our sole purpose is to provide a service which will save you thousands. Of course we could offer our services free, but then WE would have to start selling information to survive! This is the reason that we charge the very small registration fees. We rely on large numbers of registrations to cover our costs and hopefully make a small profit which we can then re-invest to improve the service for our customers. The buyers registration is free, and we have no intention of ever selling their personal details either. With HomeDirectUK buyers really do get a service FOR NOTHING!

We have a credit and debit card payment facility on this site. The actual payments are entered onto a secure server operated by WorldPay, with whom we deal (please see their security statement below). As the server is a secure server your payment details are completely safe. You can therefore supply your card details without fear of them getting into the wrong hands. The card processing is in "real-time", so as soon as you have submitted your payment request you will be told the result. If your card payment is accepted your database registration is validated immediately which means that your property display will be immediately available to prospective purchasers.

WorldPay's SECURITY STATEMENT

"Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for both the consumer (you, the advertiser) and the merchant (us, CBitSoft Ltd) during an online transaction. In reality an online transaction is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone or by fax. Information transmitted online is encrypted using complicated logarithm combinations unlike these other methods that use standard medium coding.

All communication between the customer and WorldPay is encrypted to the maximum strength supported by the customer's browser using: TLS or SSL (security)

Our public web servers are certified by Thawte, a public Certificate Authority ensuring that customers and merchants alike can have confidence that nobody can impersonate WorldPay to obtain confidential information.

All communication between the merchant and WorldPay, including the details of the purchase are encapsulated using our own encrypted and digitally-signed protocol.  This uses a combination of standard methods such as PGP, RSA and MD5 to ensure that the information passed is secure and tamper-proof.

Data storage on WorldPay systems, and the communication between WorldPay and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited by the banks themselves. There are no vulnerabilities or 'back doors' in any WorldPay systems.  We ensure that we stay up to date with the latest versions of any third-party code we use, and continually review our own proprietary code, using current best practice at all times.

In addition card issuers protect cardholders from fraudulent use of their card in a card not present environment, such as over the Internet or telephone. As the customer did not sign for the goods they have the absolute right to demand a chargeback if those goods didn't arrive or the card was used fraudulently.

WorldPay also insure all of our merchants against the risk of them going out of business. If one of WorldPay’s online merchants goes into receivership WorldPay protects the cardholder by directly refunding any debits onto their card.

These two combined allow complete protection for a cardholder."

For your privacy and security we do not release any of the seller's details entered on our site to buyers except their e-mail address and telephone number. It is then the buyer's responsibility to contact the seller to arrange a convenient appointment for viewing the property.

Be aware that you place yourself in a vulnerable position when you allow a stranger into your home. We therefore recommend that you do not do so when you are alone. Always make sure there is more than one "host" available to conduct the tour.

If there is more than one person coming to view the property avoid leaving either person alone at any time during their visit.
